As part of a personal project, I have been photographing a friend (or couples) every day since January 1st of this year. I haven\u2019t done much photographically in the past year so this is one way of re-honing my skills and doing a project that I have always thought about doing. However, in the past week, I decided to switch to photographing my educator friends and colleagues for the next week or two. It\u2019s my own meager way of telling their stories regarding the sudden return to in-person instructions in Durham Public Schools (and other districts across the country). Today, my fellow educator is a colleague at Southern High School, Durham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q: What made you (or inspired you) to become an educator?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I have always wanted to be in some type of service field. Teaching and being that positive light for our youth is my why.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Q: How are you feeling? <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I am content and blessed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Q: What is your mood like right now?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q: How do you feel about the sudden return to school buildings?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I don\u2019t think that it\u2019s a good idea. Honestly, I don\u2019t think that it\u2019s worth the risk for 2 months. Not to mention, our students and teachers are finally adjusting to virtual learning. The way we are returning will only cause chaos and more confusion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Q: How do you think it affects or impacts the students’ learning?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It will cause more confusion and inconsistencies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Q: As honestly as you can, do you think it’s time to return to the building? If not, when do you think will be a more appropriate time?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
No, I do not think that it is time to return to the building. I think that August was perfect. Enough time for planning and adjustments. I will, however, be there for my colleagues and students. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
